Oakview Terrace Wedding: Rick + Stephanie

Rick and Stephanie knew they wanted an intimate wedding with immediate family only so they chose a secluded location with a covered outdoor chapel. They chose to have a First Look, a quiet moment to see each other before the ceremony, which allowed them to have some time to themselves and to have a few photos taken.

Their ceremony was short and sweet, which allowed for ample time to have their bride + groom and family portraits taken. It's so important to talk to your photographer before the schedule is set in order to make sure you've set aside enough time take your creative photos, especially if you have a wedding party, because they often require time to gather everyone and to craft the shot.

Rick and Stephanie, thank you for trusting me to capture your special wedding ceremony. Your easygoing nature was a dream to work with and I'm so grateful. Congratulations :)

Why I'm Photographing Smaller Weddings

For 2017, I decided that the weddings I'm focusing on are smaller than ones I've photographed in previous years. This was by choice because it allows me to capture even more moments between the couple, their families and closest friends.

Capture even more moments between the couple, their families and closest friends

I want to concentrate on photographing more of the bride and groom with their inner circle of guests, rather than spreading out the photos across a large group of guests. Over the past few years, I've learned that ideally, my style and personality suits weddings with about 100 guests or less, but the maximum could be up to 150.

Another benefit of small weddings is that brides and grooms who limit the size of their wedding can have the flexibility to allocate their budget to other aspects of their day, such as the food, decor, venue or entertainment.

Regardless of the size of your wedding, just be sure it reflects who you and your spouse are and to celebrate the day to its fullest.

Styled: Intimate Wedding

I collaborated with Jenn of Wild North Flowers to put together a styled inspiration photoshoot for small weddings. We both love an intimate atmosphere where only the closest family and friends are present to celebrate with the bride and groom.

These floral crowns are perfect for flower girls or bridesmaids:

Flower girls can look just as cute in a casual summer outfit dressed up with a floral crown.
